2027 Chevrolet Equinox

What’s new on the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox?
Commutes out of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge often mean the Lougheed Highway, the Golden Ears Bridge and a fair amount of stop-and-go traffic. The 2027 Chevrolet Equinox is a five-seat compact SUV with technology aimed at that kind of driving. Adaptive Cruise Control, an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on every trim. So is all-wheel drive, paired with a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2027 Equinox continues the generation Chevrolet launched for the 2025 model year, carrying over its exterior design, cabin and features. Buyers can choose between the LT, ACTIV and RS, three trims that share one powertrain and differ in appearance, seating materials and comfort options. The cargo area holds up to 1,798 litres with the rear seats down. Maple Ridge Chevrolet Buick GMC in Pitt Meadows has the 2027 Equinox ready for a test drive.
Powertrain

Performance
The 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder makes 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque, and an 8-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting. The engine uses direct injection, variable valve timing and a dual overhead cam layout. Ratings are 9.6 L/100 km in the city and 8.1 L/100 km on the highway, and the fuel tank holds 59 litres. Automatic Stop/Start turns the engine off at complete stops under certain conditions and restarts it once you release the brake. Paired with Automatic Vehicle Hold, which keeps the vehicle stopped without your foot on the pedal, it eases long waits at lights along the Lougheed Highway.

Drivetrain & Capability
Every 2027 Equinox sold in Canada has standard all-wheel drive, which monitors all four wheels and adjusts for grip in rain, sleet and snow. A Drive Mode Selector lets the driver tailor the vehicle’s response to road conditions, a useful tool for drives up to Golden Ears Provincial Park. Suspension is a MacPherson strut design in front with a 4-link layout in the rear, and four-wheel antilock disc brakes are standard. The gross vehicle weight rating is 2,200 kg (4,850 lb).

Technology
Google built-in brings natural voice recognition, navigation capability and connected apps to the 11.3-inch screen, with personal profiles for each driver’s settings. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work with compatible phones. The Equinox has 5G vehicle connectivity and is Wi-Fi hotspot capable with a data plan, and OnStar Basics offers up to 8 years of core services such as mobile app commands. A 6-speaker audio system and Active Noise Cancellation come standard, along with SiriusXM with 360L on a trial subscription.
Adaptive Cruise Control automatically follows a detected vehicle ahead at the gap you select, and you can override it at any time. Chevrolet Safety Assist adds Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Side Bicyclist Alert warns of cyclists approaching a side blind zone, and Blind Zone Steering Assist can give the steering wheel a brief, firm turn if it detects a crash risk with a moving vehicle in the lane you are entering. The available Safety and Technology Package adds HD Surround Vision with selectable camera views, Traffic Sign Recognition, Rear Pedestrian Alert and a Rear Camera Mirror with washer.
Exterior
The Equinox draws its look from Chevrolet’s trucks and the larger Traverse. A wide stance, squared fenders and a shark-fin shape on the C-pillar give it a solid presence, and every trim gets a different front end. The RS uses a wide grille opening with a high-gloss finish on the grille bar and lower fascia, the ACTIV adds vertical grille inserts with metallic-finish accents, and the LT keeps a chrome treatment unless you choose the all-black Midnight Edition. Lighting is all LED, with sequential turn signals up front and tail lamps that extend both across and up the rear corners.
For parking in busy Metro Vancouver lots, the Equinox measures 4,653 mm long and 1,902 mm wide without mirrors, with a height of 1,666 mm and a 2,730 mm wheelbase. Rainsense automatic wipers, standard on the ACTIV and RS and available on the LT, adjust their speed to keep the windshield clear in passing showers. Wheel choices start at 17 inches on the LT and ACTIV and rise to 19 inches on the RS, with 20-inch black machined-face wheels available on the RS. The AutoSense power liftgate opens automatically when it senses the key fob at the rear of the vehicle.

Interior
Two large displays shape the dashboard: an 11-inch driver information centre with a high-contrast display and an 11.3-inch infotainment screen tilted slightly toward the driver. The gear selector sits on the steering column, which leaves an open storage area below the screen for a phone, keys or a wallet. On the ACTIV and RS, a wireless charging pad sits in the centre console beneath the climate controls. Dual-zone automatic climate control on those trims uses a cabin humidity sensor to adjust airflow for each front occupant. The LT comes with single-zone manual climate control, with dual-zone available through Convenience Package II.
The cabin seats five, with front legroom of 1,039 mm and second-row legroom of 1,013 mm. Headroom is 1,016 mm in front and 996 mm in the back, and front shoulder room measures 1,466 mm. With the 60/40 rear seats upright, the cargo area holds 844 litres; folding both sides opens up 1,798 litres. A hidden bin under the cargo floor keeps valuables out of view, and the available retractable cargo shade adds privacy in a parking garage.
