2027 GMC Sierra 1500

What’s new on the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500?
GMC has unveiled its first look at the next-generation 2027 Sierra 1500, and the truck has been rebuilt at nearly every level. Sixth-generation Small Block V8 engines lead a redesign that also touches the exterior, interior, and technology lineup from top to bottom. That’s welcome news for Pitt Meadows and Fraser Valley drivers who split time between Golden Ears Bridge commutes and weekend trips hauling gear toward the mountains, where a truck needs to feel just as composed at highway speed as it does loaded down for a job. Two trims sit at opposite ends of the new lineup: the Denali Ultimate, GMC’s most luxurious and tech-forward Sierra yet, and the AT4X, purpose-built for off-road driving. GMC has confirmed that the first 2027 Sierra 1500 models will land at dealerships before the end of the 2026 calendar year, with more detailed specifications to be released as that date gets closer.
Powertrain

Sixth-Generation Small Block V8s
The next-generation Sierra 1500 introduces sixth-generation Small Block V8 engines in 5.7L and 6.6L displacements. GMC says the engines incorporate advances in combustion, cooling, and control systems intended to improve refinement while reinforcing both on- and off-road durability, alongside a new fuel injection system built to optimize power and torque for everything from daily driving to towing.

TurboMax and Duramax Diesel
An enhanced TurboMax engine offering class-leading standard torque and a class-exclusive Duramax diesel complete the available lineup, with every engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. GMC hasn’t published detailed technical specifications for any of the engines yet, including horsepower and torque figures, and says those details will follow closer to launch.

Technology
The Denali Ultimate carries the most complete technology package in Sierra history, offering more than 60 inches of combined available digital displays — the most in its class. That includes a new 16.3-inch diagonal infotainment screen with class-exclusive articulation and hidden storage, an 11.5-inch front passenger screen with its own articulating cover, a 12.2-inch Driver Information Centre, and a 15-inch multicolour Head-Up Display that projects speed, navigation, and available driver-assistance alerts onto the windshield. An 8.5-inch Rear Camera Mirror also improves visibility behind the truck, particularly useful when towing or hauling a loaded bed.
Denali Ultimate comes standard with a three-year Super Cruise subscription, including trailering capability that supports hands-free driving on more than 965,000 kilometres of compatible roads across Canada and the United States, even while towing. Automatic Lane Change and Turn Signal Initiated Lane Change round out the system for longer commutes into Vancouver.
Exterior
Nearly every exterior surface on the 2027 Sierra 1500 is new, built around what GMC calls machine-precision forms and a stance designed to feel more grounded on the road. The truck’s signature headlamp and taillamp shapes continue on, now paired with available welcome and farewell light animations and GMC’s signature WOM lighting details. Up front, a more vertical grille gives the Sierra a squared, purposeful face that stands out whether it’s parked at a job site or waiting in line for the West Coast Express.
Individual trims get their own styling cues, including available quad exhaust outlets on select models. AT4X takes it furthest with an exclusive hood design and a 2-inch suspension lift, adding clearance useful on the logging roads and forest service routes that lead toward the North Shore mountains. The result is a lineup where each trim has a distinct road presence rather than a single shared look.

Interior
The cabin has been rebuilt across every trim level, with new colourways and upgraded materials introduced throughout. Available real wood trim accents run through the lineup, with forged wood reserved for the Denali Ultimate, and an available panoramic sunroof lets in noticeably more light than earlier Sierra generations offered. Crew cab front-row head and leg room is now class-leading, which makes a real difference for taller drivers commuting the Lougheed Highway or Golden Ears Way on a daily basis.
Everyday practicality hasn’t been overlooked either. An all-new available MultiPro centre console opens into an extended work surface with available USB charge ports, giving drivers a clean, organized spot to manage devices or paperwork between stops. For anyone juggling job sites and family errands across the Fraser Valley, that added flexibility is more than a nice-to-have.
